|Welcome to Cata's Pages|
Our second baby girl was born! We're incredibly happy.
Started the year with surgery, to fix my broken humerus. A second one will follow in the summer to remove the metal plate. After each I will need exercising for motion range recovery. Not fun.
Time for our annual company holiday again. Went to “Valea cu Struti”, in Sirnea village, close to Bran. Played a couple of breath-taking, adrenaline-pumping rounds of paintball.
Our first baby was born, it's a girl! Everything went very well, and everybody is recovering nicely. Mom is tired and happy, baby is loud and seemingly unhappy with the new home and... I am just adjusting to being a dad. That's one experience I was NOT prepared for.
Back after a fantastic vacation exploring the Dalmatian Coast of the Adriatic sea, from the wild natural beauty of Durmitor in Montenegro, through the old city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, all the way to Italy's Venice and the Dolomites.
Company holiday this year was at Tierna, right on the dam in Cerna's Valley. We hiked to Vanturatoarea waterfall and Tesna's keys.
Done a bit of traveling lately, I didn't have the time to mention it here. A circuit last year in the USA: San Francisco to Los Angeles, Vegas, Yosemite, Tahoe and back to SF. Visited Barcelona and Costa Brava in Spain. Skied on glaciers in Carinthia. Went to Budapest and traveled in Scotland.
Completed my Home Theater project. Full HD plasma, Playstation 3 as Blu-Ray player, HDMI A/V receiver, 5.1 surround sound.
Changed the car, got a new Honda CR-V. Early Christmas present.
My Cerna's springs photo from two years ago got published in the National Geographic Traveler: Romania.
Got married to my sweetheart. The wedding was a blast, to my total surprise. Just us and a couple hundred of our closest friends. See "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" to get an idea of what a Romanian wedding feels like.
Went skiing both in Tirol (Austria) and Orcières-Merlette (France) this year. The snow wasn't too good (thank you, Global Warming!) but we had a great time nevertheless.
I am moving. I bought a small apartment this spring and the renovating, fix-ups and improvements are finally done. Somehow I got involved enough to become PM on yet another project... Furnishing and decorating are still in progress though, but are they ever done?
Happy New Year! I spent mine at Negoiu Cabin in Fagaras Mountains.
Went diving the Red Sea in Egypt again. This time it was in a dive camp close to Marsa Alam which is further south on the coast, towards Sudan. Unspoiled, breathtaking coral reefs. Dived with sharks, snorkeled with dolphins.
Added a couple of pics from the Pietreni trip.
Added a Pictures section, containing a few unique shots I took lately.
I am getting myself a new car, a Toyota this time (my first one was a Mitsubishi and my second Subaru). Maybe I'll find some time this year to drive around Europe a bit.
Happy New Year in 2005! This is gonna be a pretty interesting one, I bet.
Done! Two weeks diving in the Red Sea, visiting Dahab and Cairo in Egypt. Superb underwater scenery, gorgeous desert vistas, magnificent pyramids.
Just came back from a week in France - Paris is truly beautiful in the spring. This trip has completely reopen my appetite for travel. Now I would really like to check out Austria, then to go diving in the Red Sea, in Egypt. Of course, with my work schedule being as it is, I don't know when I can do all that...
I changed my email address, please use the new one from the side-box on the right. The old one was getting an *insane* amount of spam. Something had to be done. I also updated the website with the occasion.
You can find me on orkut now. Same name and address. Let me know if you need an invitation.
I am getting ready for a year of traveling around the world. I'll be spending the first three months in Central America (Honduras, Cuba, Costa Rica) then three more in SE Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia) then I'll arrive in Eastern Europe in July and plan the second part of this trip. Adventure, unknown, mystery, fun - here I come. 2002 will be truly extraordinary, maybe one of my best years yet!
Departure date: January 13th, 2002. I'm counting the days.
